2013 Pebble Beach – Top Prices Paid at Gooding Classic Cars Auction

Thirty classic and collectors cars achieved more than a million dollars at the Gooding & Co Pebble Beach Auction in August 2013. These results include the most-expensive Bugatti and most-expensive McLaren ever.

The classic car auction at the 2013 Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance® saw thirty cars exceeding a million dollars. Gooding & Company offered 127 lots including pre-war and modern super cars. A 1957 Ferrari 250 GT 14-Louver Berlinetta achieved the highest bid of just less than ten million dollars. Several records were broken including the highest price ever paid at auction for a Bugatti and a McLaren brand, the highest price for a post-1945 Alfa Romeo and several class type records.

The Gooding & Co 10th Anniversary Pebble Beach classic car auction held on August 16 and 17, 2013, saw 28 new auction records. Gooding & Company offered 127 lots, of which 116 sold at an average price per car of $965,675 realizing $112 million for the auction.

The top price paid a the auction was for a 1957 Ferrari 250 GT 14-Louver Berlinetta that sold for $9,460,000 – the highest price ever paid for a Ferrari 250 Tour de France. The second and third highest prices set records for the respective marques: $8.7 million for a 1937 Bugatti Type 57SC Atlante and $8.47 million paid for a 1997 McLaren F1. A 1948 Alfa Romeo 6C achieved almost $5 million for the highest price ever paid for a post-war Alfa.

30 Million Dollar Cars at Pebble Beach Auction 2013

Thirty cars exceeded a million dollars at the Gooding & Co Pebble Beach Auction 2013. Ferraris featured prominently with 13 cars. Most cars were made in the 1950s and 1960s but top prices were also paid for a 2010 Bugatti Veyron ($1,155,000), a 2002 Ferrari F2002 ($2,255,000) and a 1997 McLaren F1 ($8,470,000).

The thirty classic cars selling for more than a million dollar each at the Gooding & Co Pebble Beach Auction 2013 were:
