The list of the ten most expensive cars sold at public auction in 2026 is dominated by Ferraris after some stunning results on classic and modern hypercars at the Mecum Kissimmee auction in Florida, and repeated at Scottsdale and in Paris. The most expensive car thus far in 2026 is the unique white 1962 Ferrari 250 GTO “Bianco Speciale”. It is followed by a 2003 Ferrari Enzo that sold for nearly four times the previous model record. A 1960 Ferrari 250 GT SWB California Spider and a 1966 Ford GT40 MkII Factory Lightweight are followed by several modern hypercar Ferraris, which sold for exceptionally high prices.

Most Expensive Cars of 2026 Sold at Public Auction
1962 Ferrari 250 GTO “Bianco Speciale”
The unique white 1962 Ferrari 250 GTO “Bianco Speciale”, chassis 3729GT, sold for $38,500,000 as the most expensive car at the Mecum Kissimmee 2026 auction. The result was probably slightly disappointing and makes it only the third most expensive GTO ever, but still the highest result ever achieved at a Mecum auction.
The 1962 Ferrari 250 GTO “Bianco Speciale”, chassis 3729GT, was originally owned by John Cooms, a prominent British racing team owner, and raced in period by, amongst others, Graham Hill, Mike Parkes, and Jack Sears. It achieved numerous second places overall and some class wins.
The GTO has been raced, repaired, maintained, and refinished, but never fully restored. It is thus considered a highly original car.
2003 Ferrari Enzo — Model Record
The 2003 Ferrari Enzo from the Bachman Collection sold for an incredible $17,875,000 at the Mecum Kissimmee 2026 auction — it more than tripled the existing Enzo model record.
The 2003 Ferrari Enzi was one of 400 produced, of which 127 were in US specification. It is one of 36 with Giallo Modena DS 4305 yellow paint work, of which only 11 were delivered to the USA.
The record Enzo is one of the few customized by the Ferrari factory and is considered the most heavily optioned Enzo ever ordered. Phil Bachman even screwed on a few parts in person while watching the car being produced. It was sold with only 645 miles on the clock. A very special car but an incredible result.
1960 Ferrari 250 GT SWB California Spider
The most expensive car in the RM Sotheby’s Paris 2026 sale was the 1960 Ferrari 250 GT SWB California Spider by Scaglietti, chassis 1916 GT, which sold for €14,067,500 ($17,176,418).
It was the third of 56 short-wheelbase examples built and one of only 39 cars originally configured with covered headlamps. It retained its original engine, but the sale also included a spare purpose-built 3.8-litre engine completed by expert Piet Roelofs.
1966 Ford GT40 MkII Factory Lightweight
The 1966 Ford GT40 MkII Factory Lightweight, chassis XGT-3, sold for $12,375,000 at the Mecum Kissimmee 2026 auction. It was the first car to achieve over $10 million at public auction in 2026, and only the third Ford to do so. The Ford marque record remains $13,205,000 paid for a 1966 Ford GT40 Mk II, chassis P/1032, at the RM Sotheby’s Moda Miami 2025 sale.
This GT40 was one of three factory lightweights and one of 11 Mk II cars produced. It is considered the most original survivor, at least in part due to never being raced.
1995 Ferrari F50
The Bachman 1995 Ferrari F50 sold for a new model record $12,210,000 at the Mecum Kissimmee 2026 auction. Somewhat ironically, this as-new Ferrari F50 was red rather than Bachman’s beloved yellow and took the model record from the ex-Ralph Lauren, one-of-only-two yellow 1995 Ferrari F50s that achieved $9,245,000 at the RM Sotheby’s Monterey 2025 sale. The previous F50 model record was $5,532,500 paid for a 1996 Ferrari F50 at the RM Sotheby’s Moda Miami 2025 classic car auction.
Bachman bought the Rosso Corsa 1995 Ferrari F50 from the collection of professional golfer Ian Poulter. It was the 65th of 349 F50s produced and the 28th of the 56 built for the US market. It was sold with only 251 miles on the clock.
1984 Ferrari 288 GTO
A 1984 Ferrari 288 GTO sold for a new model record €9,117,500 ($11,132,468) as the most expensive car at the Gooding Christie’s Rétromobile Paris 2026 classic car auction. The result increased the 288 GTO model record for the second time in a month.
This two-owner 1984 Ferrari 288 GTO had only 1,500 km (932 miles) on the clock. Otherwise, it is just a standard version of a very special hypercar.
2003 Ferrari Enzo
The Rosso Dino 2003 Ferrari Enzo sold for $11,110,00 at the Mecum Kissimmee 2026 auction. It would have set a new model record if it had been offered earlier in the day, before the yellow Bachman collection was offered (but at that time, no one knew Enzos had suddenly become $10 million plus cars).
This Enzo was the only one produced in Rosso Dino (orangy-red) and was sold with 3,746 miles on the clock. It is one of 400 produced, of which 127 were in US specification. It did not seem to have any other specific attraction that set it apart from other Enzos to justify this high price.
2017 Ferrari LaFerrari Aperta
The 2017 Ferrari LaFerrari Aperta sold for a new model record $11,000,000 at the Mecum Kissimmee 2026 auction. Mecum Kissimmee 2026 auction. It took the model record from a 2017 Ferrari LaFerrari Aperta that sold for €8,300,000 ($10,043,000) at the RM Sotheby’s Ferrari Maranello auction in 2017 on behalf of Ferrari as a donation to Save the Children. Apart from these two LaFerraris, only two other Apertas have ever sold for more than $5 million at public live auctions.
This yellow LaFerrari Aperta was one of 210 produced. Like most of the Bachman Ferraris, it was extremely highly specified with numerous expensive options. The Giallo Triplo paintwork was finished with a thin Italian flag stripe. It was sold with only 96 miles on the clock.
2004 Ferrari Enzo
A 2004 Ferrari Enzo sold for €8,105,000 ($9,896,205) as the second most expensive car in the RM Sotheby’s Paris 2026 classic car auction. The pre-sale estimate of €3.8 to €4.2 million was set before the mindboggling Enzo results at Mecum Kissimmee 2026.
This Italian-registered Ferrari Enzo was finished in red and seemed standard. The only really distinguishing feature was ultra-low mileage — 286 km (178 mi).
2003 Ferrari Enzo
The madness of the Mecum Kissimmee auction spilled over to Arizona when this 2003 Ferrari Enzo sold for $9,300,000, as the most expensive car in the RM Sotheby’s Arizona 2026 sale and the most valuable car at any Scottsdale 2026 auction. It is the third-most expensive Enzo ever and notably one of only a handful to ever have sold for more than $5 million at public auction.
The 2003 Enzo is a fairly standard US specification Rosso Corso over Nero. It had only three previous owners but sold with only 746 miles on the clock.
