A classic 1963 Ferrari 250 GT SWB California Spider, and modern Ferraris (Enzo, LaFerrari, F50, and F40) were the top results at the Mecum Indy 2026 collector car auction.

Mecum’s Indy 2026 collector car auction was the second Mecum sale with very strong Ferrari results. The 1963 Ferrari 250 GT SWB California Spyder, at over $18 million, was, as expected, the most expensive car in the auction. However, once again, the modern Ferrari results were amongst the highest prices ever paid for the iconic Enzo, F50, and F40. New model records were set for a Ferrari LaFerrari and a marque record for the 2005 Maserati MC12.

The Indy auction is one of the most important sales of the year for Mecum. The only larger auctions are usually the mega Kissimmee auction in mid-January in Florida and Monterey in mid-August in California.

Top Ferrari Results at Mecum Indy 2026 Sale
For the second time in 2026, Mecum offered a stunning collection of Ferraris at the Indy 2026 classic car auction. Although not as exclusive as the Bachmann Ferraris sold at the Mecum Kissimmee 2026 auction, the results at Indianapolis largely confirmed the spectacular modern Ferrari results achieved earlier in 2026, at Kissimmee, Paris, Miami, and Amelia Island.
1963 Ferrari 250 GT SWB California Spyder

The 1963 Ferrari 250 GT SWB California Spyder, chassis 4137GT, sold for $18,150,000 as the most expensive car in the Mecum Indy 2026 classic car auction. This was the joint fourth-highest result ever for a California Spider and the third-highest ever for a short-wheelbase, non-competition California Spider.
This 1963 Ferrari 250 GT SWB California Spyder, chassis 4137GT, was the last of the 56 SWB California Spiders produced. It is a fully restored car that retained its original chassis, body, engine, and gearbox. This covered headlight version, with a known history from new, is finished in red over tan.
For market watchers, the sale of chassis 4137GT was keenly awaited. Fewer than a third of the 106 California Spiders produced have been offered at public auction in the past two decades, and this was only the second repeat sale for an SWB since 2008.
Chassis 4137GT previously sold at Mecum Kissimmee 2024 for $17,875,000, so the result at Mecum Indy 2026 was only $275,000 higher — nominal without taking into account auction costs.
California Spider prices increased strongly from 2014 to 2017, but have been more stable, blue-chip investments in recent years. The price trend is upwards, with the non-competition model record increased to $19.5 million at Monaco in April 2026. However, exponential price jumps similar to Enzo prices are unlikely.

Modern Ferrari Result at Mecum Indy 2026

Several top modern Ferraris were on offer at Mecum Indy 2026. The quality of several was good enough for the top results to confirm the astronomical prices of early 2026. Several results were in the top five prices ever paid for the models, and a new LaFerrari model record was set.
2003 Ferrari Enzo
Ferrari Enzo prices more than tripled in less than a year, and the 2003 Ferrari Enzo at Mecum Indy 2026 sold for $10,230,000. This was the fourth-highest price ever paid for an Enzo, the fourth Enzo sold for over $10 million, and the seventh Enzo sold in 2026 for more than the old $6 million model record, which stood for over a decade from 2015 to 2026.
This 2003 Ferrari Enzo is one of only six finished in grigio titanio (titanium grey) and the only silver over pelle rosso car. The mileage at 3,025 is not particularly low, but it is lower than the orange-red one that sold for over $11 million at Kissimmee 2026.
