The top result at the Mecum Glendale 2021 was $2,695,000 paid for a yellow 1967 Chevrolet Corvette L88 Coupe. Mecum also had good results with several cars from the Steve Todhunter Collection, including $880,000 paid for a 2016 Ferrari F12tdf and $720,000 paid for a rare 2011 Ferrari 599 GTO.

Mecum Glendale Auction 2021 in Arizona

Mecum Auctions hosted its third annual auction in Glendale, Arizona, at State Farm Stadium March 18-20, 2021. The date is just before the huge Barrett-Jackson Scottsdale 2021 auction that was postponed from the regular mid-January date this year.

The Mecum Glendale 2021 auction reached $42.3 million in sales — an increase of over 14% over the total in 2020. Mecum sold 712 of 829 vehicles on offer for a sale-through rate of 86%.

The Mecum Glendale 2021 sale in Arizona, USA, was a live auction with onsite bidding possible in addition to online and telephone bidding.

The top result at the Mecum Glendale 2021 sale was $2,695,000 paid for a 1967 Chevrolet Corvette L88 Coupe — the tenth most-expensive car sold at public auction thus far in 2021. Although the result is one of the highest prices ever for a Corvette, the model and marque record is $3,850,000 paid for a red 1967 Chevrolet Corvette L88 at the Barret-Jackson Scottsdale 2014 auction.

The top-selling 1967 Chevrolet Corvette L88 Coupe (Lot S122.1) was an award-winning restored car that boasted an original legendary L88 engine. It is one of only 20 produced in 1967 and the only known Sunfire Yellow example.

Other notable vehicles to land among the top-10 sellers in Glendale included a trio of Ferraris from the headlining 20-vehicle Steve Todhunter Collection, which sold in its entirety for an overall total of $6.08 million. It was a 2016 Ferrari F12tdf (Lot S105) that landed the second seat in top sales at $880,000, followed by a 2011 Ferrari 599 GTO (Lot S103) in third with a $720,500 sale. Todhunter’s 2006 Saleen S7 Twin Turbo (Lot S109) nabbed the fourth spot among top auction sales with a $605,000 price tag.

Another main attraction collection in Glendale was the diverse Napa Valley Collection of 18 classic vehicles, which saw a 100% sell-through rate for a total of $2.1 million. Four of the collection’s cars broke into the six-figure range with a 1973 Porsche 911 Carrera RS 2.7 (Lot F123) claiming the fifth spot among top auction sales at $495,000 and a 1970 DeTomaso Mangusta (Lot F120) just shy of making the list at $302,500.
