Three modern Ferraris were announced for the RM Sotheby’s Monterey 2025 classic car auction — Ralph Lauren’s yellow 1995 Ferrari F50 and two special Ferrari F40s:

1995 Ferrari F50

The ex-Ralph Lauren 1995 Ferrari F50, estimate: 6,500,000 – 7,500,000, is finished in ultra-rare Giallo Modena. Just two US-spec examples were delivered in this color, and only four non-red F50s were ever sold new in the States.

Originally ordered by Ralph Lauren, this Ferrari F50 remained in his collection until 2003, when it was sold via Ferrari of Washington to its current owner. It has since remained in single enthusiast ownership, quietly preserved for 22 years, with a brief public showing at the Cavallino Classic in 2009.

Built to celebrate Ferrari’s 50th anniversary, the F50 was designed as a roadgoing Formula One car, featuring a 4.7-liter V12 derived from Ferrari’s 1990 F1 engine. With a carbon fiber monocoque, six-speed manual, and removable hardtop, it remains a purist’s dream. Of the 349 produced, only 55 were US-spec—and just a handful came in anything but red. This Giallo Modena example is believed to be one of only four great non-red US cars, making it among the rarest and most desirable F50s in existence.

Certified by Ferrari Classiche, this F50 remains fully numbers-matching and original throughout. It shows just 5,300 miles, has recently received a fresh service, and will be offered with its original books, leather folio, and flashlight, underscoring its pristine condition and completeness.

1990 Ferrari F40

The 1990 Ferrari F40, chassis 84036, is a time-capsule example of Ferrari’s landmark supercar—developed under Enzo Ferrari to mark the brand’s 40th anniversary. Delivered by Hong Seh Motors, this rare “non-cat, non-adjust” European-spec F40 remained with its original owner for 35 years in static storage and shows just 360 kilometers from new and will require a rather expensive service to become roadworthy.

An extraordinary opportunity to acquire an ultra-low-mileage, one-owner Ferrari F40. The estimate of $2,400,000 to $2,600,000 is lower than what Gooding is expecting for a 1,253-mile, US specification model.

1992 Ferrari F40 “Blue Chip F40”

The 1992 Ferrari F40 “Blue Chip F40” (Estimate: $2,500,000 – $2,800,000 USD) is quite a different kind of car from the time-capsule 1990 F40. Completed in July 1992 and delivered new to Italy, chassis 94647 enjoyed a well-documented life as a standard-specification F40 before its current owner commissioned a carefully planned upgrade programme with Furlonger Specialist Cars in the United Kingdom. The goal was to enhance performance and drivability while preserving the model’s iconic character.

Key features of the conversion include a rare Michelotto-developed F40 LM racing gearbox, revised turbo wastegates, a Tubi exhaust, KW fully adjustable suspension with front-axle lift, and 355 mm Brembo GT brakes paired with custom 18-inch centre-lock wheels that echo the original five-spoke design. Finished in Azzurro Hyperion, the car retains the unmistakable F40 silhouette while offering a distinctive, factory-quality presentation. Prior to this transformation, chassis 94647 was Ferrari Classiche Certified in 2013, with its Red Book confirming its originality.

Supplied today from a significant private collection, and accompanied by its original warranty and service book, original gearbox, Red Book, and service records, the “Blue Chip F40” represents a rare opportunity to acquire a thoughtfully enhanced example of Ferrari’s final model signed off by Enzo himself.
