2015 Bonhams Scottsdale Classic Car Auction (Preview)

A 1966 Ferrari 275 GTB Competizione and a 1963 Ferrari 250 GT Lusso Berlinetta are the top cars offered at the Bonhams 2015 Scottsdale classic car auction. Bonhams expects ten cars to clear the million-dollar mark at the annual mid-January Arizona sales including multi-million dollar results for five Ferraris. Three Mercedes-Benz 300 SLs will be on offer while a rare 1964 Aston Martin DB5 Convertible and a Shelby Cobra are also expected to sell for over a million dollar.

A 1966 Ferrari 275 GTB Competizione is expected to achieve the highest result at the 2015 Bonhams Scottsdale Auction. No estimate has yet been released for the car.

The 1966 Ferrari 275 GTB Competizione on offer was the eleventh of only twelve produced. It participated in Le Mans in three consecutive years: 1967, 1968 and 1969. In 1967, it won the Le Mans GT class for the Swiss Filipinetti racing team with Porsche drivers Rico Steinmann and Dieter Spörry at the wheel. The Ferrari has also been class winner at 1000 Kms de Spa-Francorchamps and 500 Kms de Imola.

The 2015 Bonhams Scottsdale Auction is held on January 15, 2015 at 11 am (9 am for automobilia) at the Westin Kierland Resort & Spa in Scottsdale, Arizona.

As usual, the top competition for highest result at the mid-January classic car auctions in Arizona will come from RM Auctions and Gooding & Co. Gooding has a 1959 Ferrari 250 GT LWB California Spider (estimate $8,000,000 to $10,000,000) on offer. RM Auctions top result is expected from a 1964 Ferrari 250 LM (estimate $9.5 to $12.5 million), which has also first raced in Scudera Filipinetti livery.
