A 1964 Ferrari 250 LM and 1969 Ferrari 365 GTS will headline the mid-January 2015 RM Auctions Biltmore Arizona classic car sale in Phoenix. The RM Auctions sale will offer 127 cars of which 25 are estimated to sell for over a million dollar each. The top three results are expected to come from among the 21 Ferraris on offer but several further interesting cars are on the list of highest estimates. Three Mercedes Benz 300 SLs are on offer at the RM Auction but the highest result for a German car is expected from a pre-war 1937 Mercedes Benz 540 K Sport Cabriolet.

A 1964 Ferrari 250 LM (estimate $9.5 to $12.5 million) is expected to achieve the highest result for RM Auctions at the mid-January 2015 Arizona sale. The car, originally delivered to the Swiss racing team Scuderia Filipinetti, won its first two outings with Ferrari Formula One drivers Ludovico Scarfiotti and Nino Vaccarella piloting the car to 1st overall finishes at the Sierre-Montana Crans Hill Climb and the XV Coppa Inter-Europa in Monza.

The Ferrari 250 LM, presented in its original Scuderia Filipinetti livery, was granted Ferrari Classiche Certification in 2005 making it a surefire entrant into historic racing and concours events around the world.

This 1964 Ferrari 250 LM is expected to be among the most valuable automobiles on offer during the 2015 Arizona auction week. The top competition will come from a 1959 Ferrari 250 GT LWB California Spider offered by Gooding and Bonhams’ 1966 Ferrari 275 Gran Turismo Berlinetta Competizione – another car initially raced by Filipinetti.
