The 1967 Ferrari 275 GTB/4 counts among the most popular Ferraris. The 1929 Duesenberg Model J Murphy Convertible Coupe is an American classic.

Mecum Glendale Auction 2022 in Arizona

Mecum Auctions misses the traditional Scottsdale Arizona auctions in January because of selling even earlier at Kissimmee in Florida but will host its fourth annual auction in Glendale, Arizona, at State Farm Stadium March 16-19, 2022.

The Mecum Glendale 2021 auction earned $42.3 million in sales — an increase of over 14% over the total in 2020. Mecum sold 712 of 829 vehicles on offer for a sale-through rate of 86%.

Mecum announced several early highlights for its Glendale 2022 sale in which around 1,500 vehicles and 200 road art items will be offered. The three million-dollar cars announced thus far are likely to sell well given that similar models performed very well at auctions in January 2022:

Among the highlights is a pair of Ford GTs, the first being a 2006 Ford GT that was previously owned by NFL Hall of Famer John Elway — owned rather than drove as the car has just 232 miles on the clock. Cloaked in yellow with the optional black stripes and a black interior, the GT is offered at no reserve. The other is a 2020 Ford GT that is finished in Triple Yellow Tri-Coat with Shadow Black overtop stripes—an optional color scheme that cost $17,500—and shows just 1,270 miles on the odometer. Six modern Ford GTs sold for over a million dollar at auctions in January 2022 (highest three results at Barrett-Jackson Scottsdale 2022) and a few more for slightly less.

Other main attractions include a Ferrari Classiche-certified 1967 Ferrari 275 GTB/4, S/N 9495 and Scaglietti Body No. A0037, with a correct 3286cc four-cam V-12 engine that is believed to be one of only two spare engines produced by the factory; research suggests that it was mounted on the chassis in the late 1960s. The 275 GTB in its various forms remains one of the most popular Ferrari models and generally perform reliably well at public auctions.

The Glendale auction will additionally feature a 1929 Duesenberg Model J Murphy Convertible Coupe, J-142/2165, that was the recipient of an AACA National First Prize and ACD Category 1 certification, and it’s powered by a 420/265 HP Lycoming inline 8-cylinder engine and 3-speed manual transmission.  It has received a CCCA National First Place Award in 1974, and an AACA National First Place Award in 1982 — little news thus far on more recent displays. This Duesenberg is one of the 116 out of 487 Model Js produced that received Murphy coachwork, of which 60 were convertible coupes.
