The most expensive car was the new Amelia Island record holder – a 1962 Ferrari 250 GT SWB California Spider that achieved $18,045,000 at the Gooding auction.

Record Results at Amelia Island 2023 Classic Car Auctions

The most expensive car sold at the Amelia Island 2023 classic car auction was a 1962 Ferrari 250 GT SWB California Spider that achieved $18,045,000 at the Gooding auction. This was the second-highest result for a California Spider ever but still set a new Amelia Island auction week record. This short-wheel-based California Spider is one of only 37 finished with covered headlights and the only one delivered in a color scheme of an aquamarine-hued Azzurro Metallizzato (MM 16240) exterior with Naturale Connolly Vaumol leather upholstery.

The second and third-highest results at Amelia Island were at RM Sotheby’s where $5,340,000 was paid for a 2010 Pagani Zonda R ‘Revolución Specification’ and $5,065,000 for a 1995 Ferrari F50. However, the most expensive car in the RM Sotheby’s auction was a 1959 Ferrari 250 GT LWB California Spider that sold for an undisclosed sum after the auction but received a highest bid of $8.5 million during the auction.
