The 2026 Ferrari Luce ‘Tailor Made’, Chassis 0, sold for $40 million as the most expensive charity, electric, and new car ever at the RM Sotheby’s Monterey 2026 classic car auction.

Ferrari Luce Sets Charity, New-Car and EV Auction Records
The 2026 Ferrari Luce ‘Tailor Made’, Chassis 0, achieved an astonishing $40 million as the most expensive car sold at the RM Sotheby’s Monterey 2026 classic car auction. Ferrari donated the car, with 100 percent of the proceeds benefiting charitable initiatives through The Ferrari Foundation.

The $40 million result made the Ferrari Luce:
- the most expensive car ever sold for charity at public auction;
- the most expensive new car ever sold at public auction; and
- the most expensive electric car ever sold at public auction.
At the time of sale, the Luce was the sixth-most expensive car ever and the third-most expensive Ferrari. The only higher Ferrari prices were the $51,705,000 paid for a 1962 Ferrari 250 GTO / 330 LM at the RM Sotheby’s New York 2023 sale and $48,405,000 for a 1962 Ferrari 250 GTO at the RM Sotheby’s Monterey 2018 auction.
The presale estimate of “Value In Excess Of $1,100,000” was about double the retail price but not unrealistic. At the RM Sotheby’s Monterey 2026 auction, a 2025 Ferrari Daytona SP3 ‘Tailor Made’ sold as a charity lot for $26 million, around ten times the original retail price.
Ferrari Luce — Most Expensive New and All-Electric Car

The record-setting charity car will use the first production chassis of the Ferrari Luce with unique features from the ‘Tailor Made’ program.
This Ferrari Luce will have a unique Madreperla Semi-Gloss body, using a dedicated Ferrari Tailor Made pigment to produce evolving, iridescent reflections evocative of its mother-of-pearl namesake. The interior extends this theme with exclusively developed Le Mans metallic leather in Perla and, for the first time on a Ferrari, secondary interior elements finished in Grigio Corvara.
The Ferrari Luce is Ferrari’s first-ever all-electric car. The four-door sedan received a mixed reception when presented to the public in 2026.
