The top results at the 2025 Mecum Kissimmee collector car auction were for a 1966 Ford GT40 MkI Road Car and a 2023 Ford GT Mk IV. The Steve McQueen “Le Mans” Porsche 917K failed to sell despite a $25 million bid.

Notable Results at Mecum Kissimmee 2025 Sale

For the second consecutive year, Mecum sold one of the 31 produced 1966 Ford GT40 MkI road cars at the Kissimmee auction. The 1966 Ford GT40 MkI, P/1034, sold for $7,040,000 this year, was the first of the 31 Mk I road cars delivered to a private customer. The GT40 sold in 2024 achieved $6,930,000.
The second-highest result was for a more modern 2023 Ford GT MkIV. It was sold with only 3 miles on the clock. A further modern Ford GT achieved over a million dollars while a further three sold for over $850,000 and two more failed to sell, or in Mecum speak, “The bid goes on…”
The more remarkable result was the $1,001,000 paid for a 2006 Ford GT Heritage Edition with only 71 miles on the clock. A further 2006 Ford GT Heritage Edition with 1,940 miles on the clock achieved a strong $852,000. Several further 2005/2006 GTs sold for below half a million dollars.
The result for the 1967 Chevrolet Corvette L89 Coupe was one of the highest Corvette results ever — Hagerty puts it just outside the top ten. The car is rare, only 16 were produced in 1967 in this specification, but the price is a bit crazy for the model despite the excellent condition.
An interesting movie car result was the $880,000 paid for the 1967 Jaguar E-Type Series I Roadster. This Jaguar in British flag paint body is the original “Shaguar” from the Austin Power movies. It was the only car used by Mike Myers and featured in all three movies. The result is probably a record for a non-competition E-Type. Two Series I Roadsters sold for below $200,000 at Kissimmee 2024.

The headline car for the 2025 Mecum Kissimmee auction, the 1969 Porsche 917 K driven by Steve McQueen in the movie “Le Mans” failed to sell despite a highest bid of $25 million. Exactly what offer, if any, would have been accepted remains a mystery.
The Porsche marque record was set by a 1970 Porsche 917K sold for $14,080,000 at the Gooding Pebble Beach 2017. This Porsche 917K, chassis 917-024, was used by Porsche for testing at Le Mans. However, it famously was used as a film car and although it featured in the Le Mans movie, it is not the car driven by McQueen.
Around two dozen cars received unsuccessful bids of over a million dollars at the 2025 Mecum Kissimmee sale.
