The lead car in the Mecum Kissimmee 2025 collector car auction is the 1969 Porsche 917K driven by Steve McQueen in the “Le Mans” film.
Mecum’s annual mid-January car auction extravaganza at Kissimmee in Florida, USA, features as many as 4,000 lots. However, the top 20 cars that can expect to sell or at least attract bids of over a million dollars are usually on offer on the final Saturday of the auction week. In 2025, the undisputed lead car is the 1969 Porsche 917K driven by Steve McQueen in the Le Mans film and offered by Jerry Seinfeld, who had owned the car for over two decades.

Steve McQueen’s 1969 Porsche 917K at Mecum Kissimmee 2025
The undisputed lead car for the Mecum Kissimmee 2025 classic car auction is the 1969 Porsche 917K, chassis 917-022. This was the hero car from the 1971 film Le Mans. Steve McQueen drove it in many race scenes, and it was used extensively in the movie’s filming.
The car was restored to the original Le Mans film color scheme of Blue and Orange Gulf Oil livery. It retained the original camera mountings that were needed during filming.
The Steve McQueen Porsche 917K is sold by comedian Jerry Seinfeld who owned it since 2001. It is quite a coupe for Mecum to offer this car and not Gooding which sold 16 Seinfeld Porsches at Amelia Island 2016 and the most-expensive Porsche ever at Pebble Beach 2017.
Another top racing Porsche on offer at Mecum Kissimmee 2025 is a 1966 Porsche 910-001. This was the first 910 produced and driven by Niki Lauda at the 1969 Österreichring 1000-km race.
Most Expensive Porsche Cars Ever
Mecum has not released an estimate for this Porsche, but the Porsche marque record was set by a 1970 Porsche 917K sold for $14,080,000 at the Gooding Pebble Beach 2017. This Porsche 917K, chassis 917-024, was used by Porsche for testing at Le Mans. However, it famously was used as a film car and although it featured in the Le Mans movie, it is not the car driven by McQueen.
The only other Porsche to ever have sold at auction for more than $10 million was the 1983 Le Mans 24 Hours winning 1982 Porsche 956 in Rothmans livery that Gooding achieved $10,120,000 at the 2015 Pebble Beach sale.
It is hard to imagine that the Steve McQueen 1969 Porsche 917K will have a reserve price of less than the marque record.
Other Million-Dollar Cars to Watch at Mecum Kissimmee 2025
A few other interesting cars to watch at the Mecum Kissimmee 2025 collector car auction include:
The 1965 Shelby 427 Competition Cobra Roadster — the Essex Wire Cobra claims to be the winningest Cobra of all time.
Three Ferraris are offered with estimates around the $3 million mark — none of particular distinction but also not unreasonably priced. The 1992 Ferrari F40 is a European specification car with just over 14,000 km on the clock. The black 1972 Ferrari 365 GTS/4 Daytona Spider is a three-owner car and hasn’t been shown in three decades — it is possibly the first US-specification Daytona Spider. The 1967 Ferrari 275 GTB/4 is a multiple FCA platinum award winner.
Three Mercedes-Benz 300 SL cars are on offer. The 1957 Mercedes-Benz 300 SL Gullwing is finished in metallic silver gray and has only 20,805 miles on the odometer. The 1955 Mercedes-Benz 300 SL Gullwing received a body-off restoration in the late 2000s — keeping the original unique Mittelgrum (mid-green) color scheme was an interesting choice. It is bravely offered without reserve. The 1957 Mercedes-Benz 300SL Roadster is offered in all black finish with a factory hardtop.
The 1967 Jaguar E-Type Series I Roadster on its own is not particularly valuable but this Jaguar in British flag paint body is the original “Shaguar” from the Austin Power movies. It was the only car used by Mike Myers and featured in all three movies. The result may set a record for a non-competition E-Type.
