Most Expensive Car at Monterey 2023 Auctions
The top result in the Bonhams Quail Auction 2023 auction was $30,255,000 paid for the rare 1967 Ferrari 412P Berlinetta making it the fourth most valuable Ferrari ever sold at auction. It is also the most expensive car sold at any Monterey 2023 auction and the most expensive car sold thus far in 2023. It is the fifth most expensive car ever sold at public auction and also only the fifth car sold for over $30 million and the 16th sold for over $20 million. It is the second most expensive car result ever for Bonhams, after the 1962/3 Ferrari 250 GTO that sold for $38,115,000 at the Bonhams Quail Lodge 2014.
This exceptional car is unparalleled in its rarity, as it’s just one of two 412Ps constructed. The subject of an exhaustive nine-year restoration, this endeavor not only revitalized the car to its original glory but also rendered it fit for the open road. Its current finish also honors the rich racing history that began with Colonel Ronnie Hoare and his British Ferrari agency, Maranello Concessionaires Ltd., and extended to competing in the FIA World Championship of Makes, seeing it race at the Le Mans 24-Hours, Belgian Spa 1,000 Kilometres and in its home country at the BOAC 500 at Brands Hatch.
