The 1996 McLaren F1 GTR at RM Sotheby’s Monterey and the 1964 Shelby Cobra Daytona Coupe at Gooding Christie’s Pebble Beach are the two most expensive cars on offer at the various Monterey Car Week 2026 collector car auctions. Successful sales will set new marque records and also be the most expensive British-built and American-built cars ever. The 1963 Chevrolet Corvette Grand Sport could become the first-ever GM car sold for over $10 million at public auction.

→ In 2026, Monterey Car Week is from August 7 to 16.

Nick Mason’s 1996 McLaren F1 GTR, chassis #10R, at RM Sotheby’s Monterey 2026, is by far the most expensive car on offer at any Monterey Car Week 2026 collector-car auction. It was the first of only two short-tail prototypes built to 1996 specification.

If the “The Pop Art F1” sells near RM Sotheby’s presale estimate of “Value in Excess of $35,000,000”, it will increase the McLaren marque and British-made car record by around $10 million and be one of the ten most expensive cars ever sold at public auction.

1964 Shelby Cobra Daytona Coupe

The 1964 Shelby Cobra Daytona Coupe, chassis CSX2300, with an estimate of “In Excess of $25,000,000”, is the most expensive car on offer at the Gooding Christie’s Pebble Beach 2026 classic car auction.

This car was the third of only six Cobra Daytona Coupes created by Carroll Shelby with the explicit aim of defeating the Ferrari 250 GTOs. It is the only one Shelby owned in his personal collection.

A successful sale at this price will set a new marque record and make the Cobra Daytona the most expensive American car ever.

1963 Ferrari 250 P

The 1963 Ferrari 250 P (Estimate: $15,000,000 – $20,000,000) at Gooding Christie’s Pebble Beach 2026 was Ferrari’s first-ever “P” car. It is the most expensive Ferrari on sale at Monterey 2026.

In 1963, as an official Scuderia Ferrari entry, the 250 P finished 2nd Overall at the 12 Hours of Sebring and 3rd Overall at the 24 Hours of Le Mans. In 1964 and 1965, it was campaigned by Luigi Chinetti’s North American Racing Team (N.A.R.T.) at Sebring, Le Mans, Bridgehampton, Mosport, Nassau, and other important American circuits.

The 1962 Aston Martin DB4 GT Zagato was the 14th of only 19 DB4 GT Zagatos made for competing in the World Sportscar Championship. It had only a brief racing record in Australia, which contributed to its fine condition. It was one of four finalists for the coveted Best of Show award at the 2019 Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance.

The 1963 Chevrolet Corvette Grand Sport, chassis #003, was one of only five ever built and the first of three coupes. Developed and raced without the support of GM’s top management, the Grand Sport’s most memorable races were at the Sebring 12 Hours, where it finished second in class in 1964 (and 3rd in 1965).

2023 Ferrari Daytona SP3

The 2023 Ferrari Daytona SP3 is the most expensive Ferrari on offer at the RM Sotheby’s Monterey 2026 classic car auction. Named in tribute to Ferrari’s legendary 1-2-3 finish at the 1967 24 Hours of Daytona, the Daytona SP3 is the third model in the marque’s exclusive Icona Series. This Atelier-configured, two-owner example is finished in Giallo Triplo Strato with Nero racing stripes, and shows only 227 miles.
